Casting

Casting for the roles in our film opening started early, we knew that we only needed two characters. One needed to be a woman, who needed to be able to act well and show her emotions as efficiently as possible and the other had to be a man; he needed to be significantly taller than the female actress to give connotations of dominance but did not need to be amazing at acting as he would have no vocal part to play, nor would you see his face.

We found it very easy to find a female actress for our movie opening. Emel Yildirim was our first choice and we were lucky to have her involved; she has had previous acting experience as she was involved in several school plays, the last one of which was The Crucible. In The Crucible she had a main role to play whereas she was scared and terrorised throughout a lot of the play. This showed us her true potential as she certainly convinced us it was actually happening. It also showed off her ability to scream which is a necessary trait for a horror actress. She was one of our friends so we knew she would be easy to work with and we would get along with her.

The male actor was a bit more difficult to choose from, this is because there were so many people who fitted the description we needed. To save time and the trouble of audition I offered to put myself forward as I knew that I'd be reliable, on time, and do exactly hat was needed to produce our film opening. I was significantly taller than Emel and I had suitable clothing for the costume. The Props and Costume will be shown in my next post.
