Target Audience Screening

During one of the schools digging deeper days we had an opportunity to use that day as screening time. We showed our opening to a group of teenagers, male and female, within our target audience age range of 15- 25. Although our main target audience is male we equally valued the feedback from the female audience as we would like to make the genre more appealing to both and therefore making our movie more successful.

Now I am going to talk about some of the main observations shown from our audience; we got them to write down their thoughts on our movie and give them to us without conferring with fellow peers so that we could get their actual opinion.

Pros:
A majority of people said that they liked the way we used black and white/colour to contrast between the action shots and the aftermath shots. They liked the music that we used and said that it created a tense atmosphere which is what we wanted it to achieve in the first place. Finally they said that they liked the typography used for the film title as it has connotations of the horror genre and also the motion of the inter titles; The iDents were also a hit.

Cons:
The vast amount of the target audience felt that the main problem with our movie opening is that the colour shot were too saturated (too bright/vibrant) and consequently this made the film lose suspense in these shots. Another problem was the font used for the inter titles they said that it didn't suit the genre and that it needed to be changed. Finally another problem with the inter titles was that they weren't big enough.

We were pleased that most of the feedback was positive and that all of the problems were quick and easy to fix.
